The story

The Amsterdam Tower is one of the most iconic and the highest building in the centre of Amsterdam. The tower is a popular landmark and tourist attraction, located just behind central station across the river ‘het IJ’. This former shell building houses various offices, amongst which is the Sony Music Head office (see our showcases) and there’s the Madam panoramic restaurant and a spectacular elevator ride to the top.

The Madam restaurant, located on the 20th floor, features an eye catching pixel controlled ceiling design in their bar area. 3600 diffused light guiding panels are top lit by individually controlled RGBW modules. Thanks to large glass walls of the restaurant, the colorful ceiling can be seen from far away.

The elevator experience is a must see as well! The glass roof elevator cabin combined with a spectacular light show and audio create an immersive experience that attracts many visitors.

The elevator shaft was equipped with 42 horizontal semi frosted RGB light lines and a custom built LED pixel screen om the roof. The DiGidot C4 controllers are used to control both systems together.

Lighting design was done by Northern Light, programming by Rapenburg Plaza and installation and engineering by OneEightyOne.
